When Is Euthanasia the Right Choice?
Euthanasia may be considered when a pet’s pain, illness, discomfort, or mobility challenges begin to affect their quality of life. Every pet’s situation is different, and our team can help families better understand what their pet may be experiencing.
Comfort
Consider whether your pet can rest comfortably, move without significant pain, breathe normally, and enjoy familiar routines.
Daily Well-Being
Changes in appetite, mobility, energy, bathroom habits, or interest in activities may indicate a decline in quality of life.
Veterinary Support
We recommend using this Quality of Life Scale to help provide clarity.
What Can I Expect During the Procedure?
A Calm & Private Arrival
Upon arrival, we focus on minimizing your pet’s stress. We generally avoid high exam tables and instead allow your pet to stay at floor level on a soft blanket where they feel most secure.
Relaxation & Sedation
To ensure your pet is at ease, we first administer a calming sedation. This allows your pet to fall into a peaceful, relaxing sleep. They will feel no pain or anxiety during this transition.
A Peaceful Farewell
Once your pet is in a deep sleep and you are ready, the veterinarian will administer the final solution. This acts quickly and quietly. You are welcome to hold or pet your companion throughout.
Time & Privacy
We provide you and your family with the privacy and unhurried time you need to say your final goodbyes. Our staff is here to support you every step of the way.
